Mammoth Spring Camp 2013

Our annual spring U.S. Snowboarding Camp in Mammoth was a success as always!! I would love to show you video of all the quad corks and 1880's that went down but I can't, mainly cause its an Olympic year so I gotta keep it all top secret and what not! But instead here is a little fun video I put together of all the other things we did! Mammoth. Always good times and good friends! Next Stop Hood in July!

Good times in Mammoth from Benji Farrow on Vimeo.

Lago style, so classic. Frontside Ally Oop

GoPro selfie of a frontside air!

The logo on the tee, the inspiration in the background! The North Face and Half Dome

We have the best coach, hands down. Bower and his goodie basket!

Sometimes you hit the deck, kinda like getting knocked out in a fight except you do it to yourself. Not fun.

I'm still Alive!

Hey everyone,
Sorry I have been so long in posting. A lot has happened since the US Open, I got 7th at X Games in Tignes, got 3rd and the Throwback Throwdown and broke my collar bone! I am now getting ready to head to Mammoth CA for three weeks of private training with the rest of the US Snowboard Team. Here are some photos to get you guys caught up on the last month.
Shot midway through the second flip of my cab double ten. Fell every run in finals and ended up 7th.
Finished off the season at home in Breck competing in the Throwback Throwdown, this innovative annual event is one I look forward to every year. Super stoked on how everything went, especially standing alongside friends Hitch Haller and Matt Ladley.
"Professional Snowboarder" dosen't mean you cant get hurt! I broke my collar bone on April second, thankfully Dr Hackett was able to get me all fitted with plates and screws and now Im all good!!

European Open Recap

Hi guys, Sorry I didn't keep everyone updated during the Euro Open in Laax Switzerland. So here is all that went down for me and for Arielle, who everyone is gonna be seeing alot of, like it or NOT!!! HAHA.

So Arielle and I flew from Denver to Zurich on the 2nd and the hopped on the train that took us over to Laax. The BEO has always had amazing rider hospitality and didnt disappoint this year. We got put up in a sweet two bedroom condo and all our meals covered. The only downside was that Swiss Air lost our bags and we were now forced to pay 100CHF to have them delivered to our place the next day, thanks alot United/Swiss Air.

Right away it started dumping snow, so our first day of practice was canceled, which was convienent cause we didn't have our bags. So due to the weather I only had a hour of practice the next day before semi finals. I completely fell on my first run and then barely held on to my last run and my score didnt quite make the cut. I was bummed for sure but what made up for it was that Taylor Gold stomped his runs and made it to his first major final!! Kid is riding very very well right now.

So since my week was over I pretty much spent the rest of my time, riding powder, eating food and drinking beer! haha not a bad consolation. Here are a few photos.

Put the good ole GoPro on my head and rode two feet of freshys!! I am mid slash while Brett is sending it of the upcoming wind lip.

Taylor Olli-ing over the powder puffed Laax trees.
Love me some indy slobs. Sneak peak at the Zion Snowboards 2014 Z1 Benji Farrow too!
So after we had ridden pow for two days it was time for the Halfpipe Final. Both Taylor and Arielle were riding well so I was very excited to see all the action go down. Taylor landed is first safety run and got what I thought was a bit of a low score. On his final run he threw down a very sick front double ten but couldnt quite hold on to the rest of the run.

The girls final was a tough one, lots of snow and wind making for horrible visability. But Reli Belli came through and put down a run good enough to win. Beating out Kelly Clark and taking home the Burton European Open title and 15 GRAND!! This girl is on a roll. Its her fourth podium in a row and I expect that streak to continue.  Scroll down for her run and photos.

Womens podium!

Drinks on ARIELLE!! Gotta honor that 10percent! Don't freak out, we all legal in SwissyLand.

X GAMES update

The first night of X GAMES practice was yesterday. Since practice didn't start till 7pm I had a very leisurely day, took and nap, ate lunch, hot tub, etc. Maddy and I also went and found this super chill spot right behind out house, Maddy played the bongos and I did backies! Haha it was a pretty fun afternoon. Thanks to coach Rick for the photo

Then it was off to pipe practice, the pipe is amazing as always for X Games. Here is Arielle, (pronounced R-EE-ELLE), staring down the monster.
Then I woke up early this morning and drove to Gypsum High School with my North Face teammate Kaitlyn Farrington. We spent the morning talking to students about their effect on OUR planet as part of the POW organization, (http://protectourwinters.org/ ). That went really well, met a few cool kids and signed a bunch of autographs. More importantly we tuned kids into what is happening to our planet.

We have another practice session this evening and then semis on Thursday!! Wish me luck!

Getting XTREME this week!

X GAMES is upon us!!! I moved down from my house in Breck to Aspen last night. Our first practice is tonight and I must say I am feeling a few contest jitters already. That being said I had an awesome last week riding Breck and got my runs dialed in with some big new tricks. Gotta say thanks alot to Breckenridge for giving me and the rest of the US Snowboard Team private pipe time with snowmobiles so that we could practice. Coming in clutch, thanks alot guys!! Can anyone guess this trick below?

On another note, I just got a fresh new stack of my 2014 Zion Z1's !! They are looking REALLY sick. I stickered this one up last night! You can see the base if you tune in and watch Mens Pipe Semis on Thursday night, go to http://xgames.espn.go.com/events/2013/aspen/schedule/ for the full live TV Schedule.

First Day Back on Snow

Finally got back on the snow today. 2.5 months away from my board has felt like a long time! Taylor, Arielle and Ken took me up to Copper and I am happy to say that everything came right back to me. I love snowboarding!
Taylor Gold boosting a frontside stale into the wallride from the pole jam. STYLE

Tay took this photo of me doing a cork front 3 (wet willy) over the small jump at Copper.

Back on snow again, Arielle and Tay think they are cool. Its a poor misconception they have induced by there Energy Drink helmets.
